Boyan Slat is a project which was developed by a 19 year old boy who came up with the idea of creating huge machines which are floating around in the ocean and are conected to each other by tubes stretching for kiliometers throught the ocean and catch all debris found in the ocean. This debris is afterwards stored in huge containers attached to these machines.

This project would manage to extract more than 7,250,000,000 kg of plastic from the ocean in only five years. If this project is funded enough and would be able to start in the next few years, the problem with all the debris in the ocean could be solved.

The picture above shows such a machine and the tubes that reach out on both sides to extract all the litter.

Boyan Slat focused his final high school paper on the topic of the great pacific garbage patch and on finding a sustainable solution to this problem which would definetly make a change.

Millions of tons of debris are polluting the world's oceans. The garbage does not only harm invasive species such as algea and plankto, kill countless animals every year but and transports pollutantsa all over the ocean to the coasts. Furthermore, another reason why Boyant Slat constructed such a project was because the garbage in the ocean costs governments, companies and individuals millions of dollars every year.

Boyan Slat wanted top come up with a solution which would enable human to extract all the plastic from the oceans which was transported there so far, but also that we stop creating so much harmful debris such as plastic by using disposable resources and manage global waste better.

However, in order to start and cmplete this project a lot of financial help is needed. If you are interested in this project and willing to help in order to solve this global issue soon, then please contribute by donating by following the link above.
